COUNCILLOR PAUL TURNER
Mayor 2023 - 2024
The Charter Trustees of High Wycombe are delighted to announce that Councillor Paul Turner will be elected as Town Mayor of High Wycombe at their Annual General Meeting on Saturday 20th May 2023. Councillor Nathan Thomas will be the Deputy Mayor.
Paul was born in Totteridge in High Wycombe and attended what was Guinions County Primary School (now Beechview Academy) and the Royal Grammar School. After ‘A’ levels Paul started work at Midland Bank in Desborough Avenue. After moving away for three years and deciding that the Wycombe area was home and returning, Paul embarked on an accounting career working in local businesses including Airflow Developments on Cressex Industrial Estate, and for Guinness Trust Housing Association on Mendy Street. More recently Paul has managed Wycombe Almshouses (a charity founded in 1686).
Paul is married with two children and four grandchildren, all living locally. In his spare time he enjoys researching his family history, much of it centred in and around High Wycombe and along the A40 between Wooburn and West Wycombe for at least the past 350 years. (The Turner family have not been the most adventurous travellers).
Paul is passionate about the history of High Wycombe, the surrounding countryside and the potential of our town.
As a trustee, board member and volunteer for various local charities and organisations Paul can see the huge amount of selfless dedication so many people give to the community in High Wycombe. Paul would like to take his year as Mayor to highlight as many local initiatives as possible and the great work that they do.
